Jason Griffin(TOLEDO, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced that defenseman Ryan Stokes has been returned to Toledo by the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.
Stokes skated in three games for Providence and collected four penalty minutes.
This season with Toledo, Stokes has appeared in 27 games, scoring four goals with six assists to go along with 53 penalty minutes.
25-year-old Stokes, enters his fifth season of professional hockey after spending last year with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs. There the undrafted blue-liner scored a career-high four goals while matching a personal-best with 10 points during the regular season before also appearing in 12 playoff games. Prior to Stokes' time with the IceHogs, the Corruna, Ontario, native played parts of three seasons with the Houston Aeros after debuting in 2004-05 with the Pensacola Ice Pilots of the ECHL. As a pro, Stokes has 41 points, including nine goals, and 541 penalty minutes in 268 games.

Jason GriffinCollecting the Wins! Toledo is currently on its longest winning streak this season as they have collected six straight wins. During the streak Toledo has out-scored the opposition 28-10 for an average of 4.66 goals per game while allowing just 1.66 goals per contest. The last time a Toledo team won this many consecutive games was seven from January 19th to February 2nd 2007. The longest overall winning streak by an ECHL Toledo team is 10 done by three teams; the last was from January 21st to February 18th 1996.
We will take 5 while you get the 2! Perhaps the rarest of all stats occurred for the Walleye this week as they won all three games by identical 5-2 scores. This is the first time in team history that this has occurred.
Scoring for Wins! Toledo is a perfect 10-0-0-0 when scoring five or more goals this season. The Walleye scored five goals in all three games this past week.
Defense First! During the current six game winning streak Toledo has allowed just two power play goals as they have stopped 23 of the last 25 power plays against (92.0%).The team has stopped 19 consecutive chances and has not allowed a power play goal since December 12th against Elmira (4 games).
Tanguay Tops Out! Forward Maxime Tanguay finished out the weekend in style scoring two goals while collecting four assists. That gives Maxime the team lead for points with 30 (11g, 19a).
Ewing on a Run! Forward Bryan Ewing is currently on a six game point streak in which he has collected 2 goals and 6 assists.
Fan-tastic! For the season 107,138 fans have passed through the turnstiles at the new Lucas County Arena for an average of 5,639. Toledo is the first team in the ECHL this season to eclipse 100,000 in total attendance and is still the only team to do so.
Gametime! Following the holiday break, Toledo will get back to action Saturday night in Cincinnati. Toledo is 3-2-0-0 against the Cyclones this season including a 5-2 win last Tuesday night in Cincinnati. Sunday evening features a return to the Lucas County Arena for the Walleye as they host the Johnstown Chiefs. Toledo has beaten the Chiefs in both prior meetings this season. That is another “Kids Day” with the Walleye, featuring a post-game skate with Walleye players!

Half Dozen Straight!

Jason GriffinWay to go boys...was at the game last night and thought the team played great...make it six straight wins for the Walleye (a franchise best)...now just 1 point behind first place Kalamazoo.
A crowd of 5,370 was the largest crowd in the ECHL on Saturday as well...fans were into the game from the opening face-off. Toledo is averaging 5,639 fans per game so far through 19 games.
Maxime Tanguay has 30 points (11 Goals and 19 assists) which is 8th in the ECHL. Adam Hobson has 27 points (12 goals and 15 assists) which is 15th in the ECHL.
Malcolm MacMillan has 95 PIM (4th in the ECHL)
JC Sawyer has 26 points and that leads all ECHL defenseman.

Walleye Add Tremblay

Jason Griffin(TOLEDO, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced that they have signed defenseman Luis Tremblay. The 26-year-old will travel with the team to Cincinnati tonight.
Tremblay was playing most recently with the Bossier-Shreveport MudBugs in the Central Hockey League. He started the 2009-10 campaign with the Stockton Thunder in the ECHL.
The Quebec native has skated for five different ECHL teams during his six-year professional career.

Walleye host Wheeling Wednesday night
(TOLEDO, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced that the team has signed forward Scooter Smith to a contract. Scooter is expected to be in the lineup tonight as the Walleye take on the Wheeling Nailers.
During parts of three seasons in Toledo, Smith averaged nearly a point-per-game, playing in 116 games and recording 108 points (41g, 67a). For his entire professional career, Scooter has averaged nearly a point per contest. He has scored 82 professional goals while adding 150 assists (232 points in 246 games). Smith was playing this year with Louisiana of the Southern Professional league (7g, 11a).
Richards to Rockford...Jimmy Spratt signed as back-up

Jason Griffin(TOLEDO, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced that Goaltender Alec Richards has been re-called by the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
The 22-year-old Richards has played in nine games with Toledo, going 5-1-3 with a 2.78 G.A.A. along with a .906 save percentage. Richards has played two games with Rockford this season (1-1-0, 2.54 G.A.A.).
The Walleye have also announced the signing of Goaltender Jimmy Spratt to back-up Jordan Pearce this evening versus Kalamazoo (7:00 pm at Lucas County Arena).
Spratt played four seasons at Bowling Green State University.
Milam Released

Jason Griffin(TOLEDO, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced that defenseman Jamie Milam (MY-lum) has been given his release from the team.
The 25-year-old defenseman from Lake Orion, MI played in 16 games for the Walleye, scoring three goals with nine assists to go along with eight penalty minutes.
The Walleye currently have a record of 8-7-4 after their 3-2 win last night at home versus the Florida Everblades. The Walleye will play three games this weekend as they continue their inaugural season.
