St. Francis Graduate Comes Home to Toledo…
(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced today that they have signed defenseman Brett Blatchford to a contract.
Blatchford, the Toledo St. Francis De Sales graduate, joins the Walleye following a four-year career at the University of Notre Dame. Brett finished his senior season with the Irish scoring four goals while adding 15 assists. This past season he received the Coaches Award for being the teams’ Unsung Hero. In four seasons, Brett appeared in 153 games with Notre Dame, scoring six goals while adding 67 assists.
Brett also appeared in two games with the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves at the end of last season. He also dressed in seven regular season games with the Idaho Steelheads, collecting an assist. Prior to Notre Dame, Brett skated with the Texas Tornado of the NAHL. In 2005-06, he led all NAHL defenseman in scoring with three goals and 46 assists. Blatchford appeared in two All-Star games while with the Tornado (2005 and 2006).

Players that have already signed for the 2010-11 season officially include:
D Tyler Gotto (will be a rookie...played at Niagara University)
LW Dominic Osman (started last year with the Walleye and was then traded to Florida for the second half of the year. Had 22 points in 47 games with Toledo.)
D Kyle Page (Bowling Green product started his pro career with the Walleye in the last month of the season last year.)
F Sal Peralta (came over to the Walleye from Ontario in February of last year and as a rookie, collected 19 points in 17 games)
C Scooter Smith (fan favorite from the Toledo Storm days, Scooter played in 47 games for the Walleye last year and notched 13 goals. Scooter turns 30 years old this November)
LW Mike Walsh (signed to play this season in Toledo, Walsh led all Storm rookies with 40 points during the 2006-07 campaign. Former Notre Dame standout, the 27-year-old played last year with Grand Rapids in the AHL).

(TOLEDO, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced that the team has signed forwards Scooter Smith and Mike Walsh to contracts for the 2010-11 season.
Scooter Smith
For Smith, the upcoming campaign will be the fifth in Toledo for the 29-year-old native of Calgary, Alberta. During parts of his previous four seasons in Toledo, Smith has averaged nearly a point-per-game, playing in 163 games and recording 137 points (54g, 83a).
During his professional career that began in 2002, Scooter has garnered 72 goals and 114 assists in 251 games. Smith was signed last season on December 9th to a contract with the Walleye and collected 13 goals and 16 assists.
During the 2009-10 season, Smith had three two-goal games with Toledo and a season-high three assists on March 5 versus Trenton. Scooter played in three playoff games for Toledo against the Charlotte Checkers (1 g, 1 a)

Mike Walsh
Walsh, a 27-year-old native of Royal Oak, Michigan, returns to Toledo where he played most of the 2006-07 season. The former 5th round draft choice (2002) of the New York Rangers has spent the last two seasons with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. In 47 career AHL games, Mike has scored 6 goals with one assist. With Toledo in 06-07, Walsh collected 14 goals with 26 assists in 66 games played. During his college career at Notre Dame, Mike appeared in 130 games with 25 goals and 29 helpers. His nine game-winning goals rank 9th all-time in Notre Dame history.

(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci announced today that the team has signed forward Sal Peralta and defenseman Tyler Gotto to contracts for the 2010-11 season.
Sal, the 27-year-old native of Leamington, Ontario, was acquired by the Walleye on February 20, 2010 from Ontario (ECHL). In 17 contests with the Walleye, Peralta collected 19 points (10g, 9a). Peralta also appeared in 25 games this past year in the ECHL between the Kalamazoo Wings and the Ontario Reign. Sal collected four goals and 12 assists in those contests. Peralta played five seasons in Canadian College with the University of Western Ontario, with his best season coming in 2007-08 when he scored 18 goals and added 23 assists.

Gotto joins the Walleye after spending four seasons with Niagara University in the CHA (College Hockey America). Tyler, a 25-year-old native of Calgary, Alberta, is coming off his best offensive season, netting 11 goals while adding 14 assists. He also collected 46 penalty minutes, and amassed 177 penalty minutes while in a Purple Eagles uniform. Gotto was named All-CHA second team (third consecutive year) for his efforts in 2009-10. Tyler has also been a member of the CHA All-Academic team and was named to CHA All-Rookie team in 2006-07.
