Rookie center has 68 points for Toledo in 63 games…
(TOLEDO, OH) - The Toledo Walleye are pleased to announce that Maxime Tanguay has been named to the ECHL All-Rookie team for the 2009-10 season.
The team was determined in a vote of ECHL coaches, who were asked to select a goaltender, two defensemen and three forwards.
A rookie is defined as a player who has played in less than 25 professional games prior to the start of the current season.
Tanguay was honored to be named to the team, "I am very excited to win this award. I feel the same way I did when I was selected for the All-Star game this year. It is a tremendous honor for me and the entire team."

Maxime Tanguay of the Toledo Walleye is third among league rookies with 68 points and sits second with 43 assists while his 23 power-play points are tied for third among first-year players. Tanguay is under contract to Rockford of the American Hockey League and he has one assist and two penalty minutes in five games with the IceHogs.
Since the ECHL began naming the All-Rookie Team in 2000-01, 10 players selected have gone on to play in the NHL: David Desharnais (2007-08), Kevin Doell (2003-04), Vern Fiddler (2002-03), Simon Gamache (2001-02), Mike Glumac (2002-03), Adam Hauser (2002-03), Jason Jaffray (2002-03), Anton Khudobin (2007-08), Joey Tenute (2004-05) and Zenon Konopka (2002-03).
The ECHL will announce its First-Team All-ECHL and Second-Team All-ECHL teams on Thursday.
Toledo can clinch a berth in the 2010 Kelly Cup Playoffs with a victory tonight at Johnstown (7:05 pm). The game can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA with Matt Melzak on the call.

Walleye Notes
 Two Win Week! The Toledo Walleye collected two wins and four points of a possible six for the second consecutive week. Following a tough 7-4 loss Friday night in Johnstown, Toledo collected consecutive wins over Wheeling (5-1) and Kalamazoo (6-3).
 A Fantastic Record! The Toledo Walleye finished home portion of the schedule Sunday afternoon. Toledo finished the season with 226,575 fans passing through the turnstiles at the Lucas County Arena. The Walleye finished with an average attendance of 6,294 per contest (84.6% capacity). Only Ontario (6,451) finished with a higher per game average than Toledo.
 Playoff Watch! After the weekend, Toledo sits tied with the Reading Royals in the seventh spot in the American Conference Playoff race at 76 points. Toledo is just one win shy of clinching a spot in the 2010 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
 Second Period Dominance! In Toledo’s back to back home wins Saturday and Sunday, the Walleye outscored Wheeling and Kalamazoo 7-0 in the second periods.
 Peralta a Force! Forward Sal Peralta scored four goals in the three games this past week. Since arriving in Toledo, Sal has scored 10 goals while adding in 5 assists in 14 games.
 Pearce of Protection! Goaltender Jordan Pearce faced a season high 56 shots in Sunday’s 6-3 win against Kalamazoo. Jordan turned aside 53 to collect his 15th win of the season.
On the Hook
 Gametime! Toledo will start another three game week in Johnstown Wednesday night. Toledo is 6-1-0-0 against the Chiefs this season. The Walleye will travel to Kalamazoo to finish the regular season with games Friday and Saturday night. Toledo is 6-5-0-0 in the eleven meetings this year with the Wings.

Walleye to serve as primary ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks for 2010-11 season…
(TOLEDO, OH) - The Toledo Walleye are pleased to announce that they have reached an affiliation agreement with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League for the 2010-11 season.
Under terms of the agreement, Chicago will assign contracted players to the Walleye.
With an emphasis on player development, the Walleye will serve as the Blackhawks ECHL affiliate. The Walleye will also work and develop prospects with Chicago’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
Joe Napoli, Walleye President/General Manager, discussed the affiliation, “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to work with the Chicago Blackhawks. The first season went extremely well and we have established a great foundation.â€
Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations, Mark Bernard said, “The Chicago Blackhawks and Rockford IceHogs are both very happy to extend our affiliation with the Toledo Walleye for another season. Once again we have found Toledo to be an ideal location for our young prospects to gain experience and develop their skills while enjoying tremendous fan support and all of the amenities that the Lucas County Arena has to offer. Head Coach Nick Vitucci has done a wonderful job with all of our prospects over the past season and we look forward to having him help develop the next group of future Chicago Blackhawks.â€

 Two Win Week! The Toledo Walleye collected two wins and four points of a possible six over the last week. Both Maxime Tanguay and Tony Romano collected a goal and an assist to help Toledo to a 3-1 win. Sal Peralta scored twice Saturday night to spearhead Toledo to a 3-2 win in Cincinnati. Sunday, Wheeling scored two empty net goals to send Toledo to a 5-2 loss.
 A Fantastic Record! Currently, Toledo sits at 211,662 for the year and with every game establishes a new mark (1977-78 Goaldiggers 177,988 was the old record). Toledo is currently averaging 6,225 per contest.
 Cincinnati is Toledo’s Second Home! The Walleye won 3-2 Saturday night in Cincinnati and finished the season 5-1-0-0 against the Cyclones in games played at Cincinnati. Toledo finished 8-3-0-0 against Cincinnati on the season.
 Completing a Comeback! The Walleye struck for two third period goals to beat Cincinnati Saturday night. Toledo trailed 2-1 heading to the third period before Tony Romano and Sal Peralta collected goals to help Toledo to the win.
 Romano a Week! Forward Tony Romano is currently on a four game goal scoring streak. Tony has four goals and five assists in six games since coming to Toledo.
 Pearce of Protection! Goaltender Jordan Pearce stopped 63 of 66 shots in two starts this week against Cincinnati. Jordan has improved his record to 14-13-2-0.
On the Hook
 Gametime! Toledo will start another three game weekend in Johnstown Friday night. Toledo is 6-0-0-0 against the Chiefs this season, and has outscored Johnstown 34-17 in those games. Saturday night Toledo will return home to take on the Wheeling Nailers. Toledo is 1-4-0-0 against the Nailers this year. On Sunday the Kalamazoo Wings come to Toledo in the final home game of the year for Toledo. Toledo and Kalamazoo have split the first 10 meetings this year (5-5-0-0).
 Promotions! Saturday night is Part of Fan Appreciation weekend with the Walleye. That night will feature a a game used stick and equipment auction, Fish Sticks given away presented by the Toledo Blade, and Mud Hens Item giveaway. Sunday continues Fan Appreciation Weekend as Former Detroit Red Wing great Ted Lindsay will be in town, Diego will be in for the kids, a post-game skate and design a night will be happening.

Scouting the Nailers: Wheeling is 30-31-2-4 on the season and they currently sit ninth in the American Conference. The Nailers are just 2-3-0-0 in their last five games including losing back to back games to Kalamazoo. Both Fox’s have combined for 103 points on the season. TJ has collected 55 points (24g, 31a), while Jordan has chipped in 48 points (18g, 30a)...
Richards Back With Toledo

Matt Melzak(TOLEDO, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced that goaltender Alec Richards has been reassigned back to the Walleye by the Chicago Blackhawks from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. In a separate move, the Walleye released goaltender Justin Grevious.
Alec is 16-11-0-4 on the season with a 3.43 goals against average with a .894 save percentage with the Walleye. With the IceHogs this year, Richards is 3-2-0-0 with a 3.12 gaa and a .883 svp.

Rockford, Ill.- The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Tuesday that the National Hockey League club has recalled goalie Corey Crawford from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs. In addition, goaltender Alec Richards has been reassigned by the Blackhawks from the Toledo Walleye (ECHL) to the IceHogs.
Richards is currently playing in his rookie season and has earned his fourth recall to Rockford in ’09-10. The Robbinsdale, Minn. native has played in six games with the IceHogs and carries a record of 3-2-0-0 with and .895 SPCT and a 3.12 GAA.
In 31 games with the Walleye, Richards is 16-11-4 with an .894 SPCT and a 3.43 GAA. Prior to turning pro, Richards spent the previous four years at Yale University and is the Bulldogs all-time shutouts leader with six.

Walleye Acquire Tony Romano and Sign Kyle Page

Jason Griffin(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced today that they have traded forward Malcolm MacMillan and defenseman Justin Suda to the Utah Grizzlies for the rights to forward Tony Romano. In a separate move, the Walleye have signed former Bowling Green State University defenseman Kyle Page.
Romano was a sixth round pick of the New Jersey Devils in the 2006 draft. Tony has split time this year between Bridgeport of the AHL and Utah of the ECHL. He has appeared in 21 games with the Sound Tigers (1g, 1a), and 34 games with the Grizzlies (9g, 15a). On June 30th of 2009, Tony was traded by the Devils to the New York Islanders. In the 2008-09 campaign, he led the Peterborough Petes (Ontario Hockey League) in scoring (36g, 33a).
Page signs on with the Walleye after completing his senior season with the BGSU Falcons. Kyle posted a career-high in points with 17 (3g, 14a) this season, while serving as the team’s captain for a second straight year. In 2008-09, Page was named Bowling Green’s top defensive player. During his time at Bowling Green he was also named to the CCHA’s Scholar Athlete Team (2006-07), and was honorable mention All-CCHA Rookie Team in 2005-06.
MacMillan appeared in 56 games this year with the Walleye, scoring four goals while collecting 28 assists. Malcolm also collected a team-high 155 penalty minutes. Suda appeared in 46 games with the Walleye scoring one goal with four assists.

Ø A Fantastic Record! Sunday’s crowd of 7,084 pushed Toledo over the 200,000 mark for total season attendance. Currently, Toledo sits at 205,135 for the year and with every game establishes a new mark (1977-78 Goaldiggers 177,988 was the old record). The Walleye also posted the best three game home weekend attendance with 22,545 on hand. The previous best was October 16-18 when 20,664 passed through the turnstiles. Toledo is currently the top team in average attendance also at 6,216 per contest. Ontario sits at 6,157 per game.
Ø Overtime Again! Saturday night, Toledo collected its league leading ninth overtime win of the season. The Walleye have the best win percentage in the league in games past regulation (85.7%) with a record of 9-1 in OT and 1-3 in shootouts. The last two goals scored for Chris Robertson have been overtime game-winners (2/17/10 at Cincinnati).
Ø Welcoming Aliu! Walleye forward Akim Aliu made his debut Saturday night with Toledo a good one as he scored two goals and set up Chris Robertson’s overtime game-winner.
Ø Third Period Scoring Frenzy! Toledo exploded Friday night for five goals in the third led by JC Sawyer and Maxime Tanguay, who each tallied twice. It tied Toledo’s high this season for goals in a period as they scored 5 goals in the third period 12/12/09 vs. Elmira (5-1 win).
Ø Setting the Shooting Mark! Toledo posted a season high 51 shots on goal in the 6-5 overtime win on Saturday. Gwinnett has posted the ECHL high for shots in a single game this season when they collected 60 on 11/28/09.
Ø Returning from the Dead! Toledo won twice this past weekend after trailing through two periods. Toledo has 7 wins this year when trailing after the second period. That ties them with Alaska and Florida for the most such wins in the league.
Ø Gametime! Toledo will play three road games this week. The first is Wednesday night in Trenton. Toledo is a perfect 4-0-0-0 against the Devils this year, although this will be the first time the two have met in Trenton. Toledo will meet Trenton again on Friday night. On Saturday, the Walleye travel to Reading to take on the Royals. Toledo is 0-1-0-1 against Reading this year, although the two have not met since October 29th in Reading (3-2 shootout loss).

Jason Griffin(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced today that they have traded defenseman Anthony Sarno to the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL in exchange for future considerations.
Sarno appeared in 12 contests with Toledo and did not register a point. Anthony did collect four penalty minutes.

Jason Griffin(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced today that defenseman Simon Danis-Pepin has been reassigned by the Chicago Blackhawks to Toledo from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
Pepin will be making his first appearance in Toledo after competing in 38 games this year with Rockford. The former 2nd round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2006 has scored one goal with seven helpers in his first professional season. Simon had 36 points (6g, 30a) in four seasons with Maine Black Bears during his college career.

 Zarb has lit the Lamp! Defenseman Chris Zarb scored his first goal with Toledo Saturday night against Gwinnett. It was the ninth goal of the season for Chris.
 No more of the South Please! With its loss Saturday night against Gwinnett, Toledo is 5-10-1-2 against teams from the South Division this season. The Walleye are 24-14-0-1 against teams from the East (12-3-0-1) and the North (12-11-0-0).
 Players of the February Month! Goaltender Alec Richards finished February with a 2-4-0-0 record while posting a 3.01 GAA and a .909 SVP. Forward Evan Rankin finished the month with 6 goals and 6 assists for 12 points in just nine games.

 Gametime! Toledo will continue a four game home stand with three games in three days at the Lucas County Arena this weekend. Friday night, the Walleye will host the Trenton Devils. Toledo has won all three meetings so far this year against the Devils. The Walleye have scored on five of nineteen power plays against Trenton (26.3%). Saturday and Sunday the Charlotte Checkers will be in town for a pair of games. The Walleye have taken two of the three meetings so far this year against the Checkers. The Walleye defeated Charlotte 7-0 in the last meeting (2/19/10 at Charlotte).
 Promotions! Friday night is “Pink in the Rink†with the Walleye. Toledo will wear Pink Jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game, and the game will be played on Pink ice.
