Walleye acquire Tyler Doig from K-Zoo

Jason Griffin(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced today that the team has traded defenseman Joe Charlebois to the Kalamazoo Wings for forward Tyler Doig (pronounced Doyg). In a separate move, the Walleye released forward Sal Peralta.
Doig has appeared in eight (8) games this year with the Wings, scoring once and collecting four (4) assists. The native of Seaforth, Ontario scored 17 goals with 51 assists in 69 games for his best offensive season last year with the Charlotte Checkers. For his career, Tyler has appeared in 216 professional games with 48 goals scored and 133 assists. Charlebois appeared in 18 games this year with the Walleye, scoring one goal and was a minus 7 in those contests. Peralta had collected 3 points (1g, 2a) in 15 games with the Walleye.

Walleye Notes
The Road Trip Concludes! Toledo finished its six game road trip 2-4-0-0. Following this four game home stand coming this week; Toledo will return to the road for four games until December 26th against Kalamazoo at the Huntington Center.
Rankin Goes for Multiple! Walleye Forward Evan Rankin leads Toledo in goal scoring with seven (7) goals to this point in the season. In every game that Evan has scored, he has gone for multiple goals. On Saturday in Gwinnett, he scored twice as he did November 13th in Kalamazoo. Evan scored three times November 5th in Kalamazoo.
Power Play! Toledo’s power play has nine (9) goals scored this season, but has allowed seven (7) short-handed goals.
Four for Palmer! Toledo goaltender Joe Palmer started four consecutive games on the six-game road trip. Joe went 2-2-0-0 in those starts posting a 3.91 goals against average and a 0.884 save percentage. In Thursday’s shoot-out win at Gwinnett, Palmer turned aside six of eight Gwinnett shooters to collect the win.
Gametime! This week, the Walleye return to the home ice at the Huntington Center for four games in five days. The first is Wednesday night when the Walleye welcome in the Trenton Devils. Last year the Walleye went 4-1-1 against the Devils. The week continues Friday and Saturday when the Bakersfield Condors travel in from the west coast to play back-to-back nights against Toledo. Toledo and Bakersfield have met three times in ECHL play all-time with Toledo going 1-2-0 in those contests. On Sunday, the Cincinnati Cyclones will invade the Huntington Center. Toledo is 1-2-1-0 against the Cyclones this year.
Coaches Show! After a one week sabbatical, the Walleye Coaches Show returns to PizzaPapalis this Tuesday night with a special time of 5:30-6:30pm. Walleye forward Andy Bohmbach and goaltender Joe Palmer will join Head Coach Nick Vitucci and Matt Melzak for the show. The show will also feature more giveaways including autographed pucks and tickets to upcoming Walleye home games!
Promotions! Friday night, the first 2,500 fans through the door will receive a pair of Walleye knit gloves courtesy of Huntington Bank and Santa Clause will make an appearance. Saturday night, the famous Hanson Brothers from the movie “Slapshot†will be on hand to sign autographs and entertain. Sunday is “Kids Day†with the Walleye featuring SpongeBob SquarePants!

Matt MelzakLast Game: The Walleye were defeated by the Gwinnett Gladiators 5-2 Saturday night. The loss snapped a two game winning streak for Toledo. The Walleye allowed a season high 47 shots.
Today’s Game: The Toledo Walleye finish their six game road trip in South Carolina against the Stingrays. Last year Toledo went 0-3-1 against the Stingrays. The Stingrays won both contests played in South Carolina.

Matt MelzakLast Game: The Walleye defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators 3-2 in a shootout Thursday night. Toledo has won back to back games on this road trip. It is the first time this season Toledo has won consecutive games.
Today’s Game: The Toledo Walleye are looking for a third consecutive win away from home in Gwinnett. Toledo is 4-3-1-0 away from home this season.
Shutting the Door: Walleye goaltender Joe Palmer, making his third consecutive start, turned aside 36 of 38 shots from the Gladiators Thursday. In the shootout, he stopped six of the eight shooters to secure the extra point for the Walleye.
Scouting the Gladiators: Gwinnett is 11-4-0-4 on the season and they sit first in the South Division. The 26 points collected so far is the most by any team in the ECHL. The Gladiators are 5-2-0-0 on home ice this season. Gwinnett defeated South Carolina 1-0 last night.
Baiting the Hook: Sunday afternoon, the Walleye will finish a six game road trip in South Carolina. The Walleye will be back at home on Wednesday December 1st against Trenton.

Today’s Game: The Toledo Walleye continue a six game road run in Gwinnett. This is the first meeting of the year between the Walleye and the Gladiators. Toledo was 0-3-0 against the Gladiators last year, and is 3-4-0 all-time against the Gwinnett franchise. Toledo is 3-3-1-0 on the road this season.
One Line Does it All! The line of Peter Leblanc, Randy Rowe, and Zack Torquato combined to collect all of the scoring in Toledo’s 3-1 win at Florida Saturday night. Rowe scored two goals with one assist, Leblanc scored one goal with two helpers, and Torquato assisted on all three.
Leblanc to the Top: Forward Peter Leblanc is tied for the ECHL scoring lead for first year players with 15 points (5 goals and 10 assists).
Scouting the Gladiators: Gwinnett is 10-4-0-0 on the season and they sit first in the South Division. Only the Elmira Jackals have more points than Gwinnett so far this year (Elmira with 24, Gwinnett with 23). The Gladiators are 5-1-0-0 on home ice this season.

Walleye Notes
Emerging from the Sunshine! The Walleye collected two of a possible six points last week in three games at Florida. After two losses, the Walleye rebounded to collect a 3-1 win Saturday night.
Road Warriors! The Walleye have a record 3-3-1-0 away from the Huntington Center this year. Toledo has collected seven of its 12 points this season away from home.
12,18,24! The line of Peter Leblanc, Randy Rowe, and Zack Torquato combined to collect all of the scoring in Toledo’s 3-1 win at Florida Saturday night. Rowe scored two goals with one assist, Leblanc scored one goal with two helpers, and Torquato assisted on all three.
Scoring First! Five times this year Toledo has collected the first goal of a game. In those contests, the Walleye has a record of 4-1-0. Toledo is also 2-1-1-1 in one goal games this year.
Rookie Leader! Walleye forward Peter Leblanc leads Toledo in scoring with 15 points (5g, 10a) and he is the current leader in scoring for first year players in the entire ECHL.
Gametime! This week the Walleye will continue away from home as they travel to Gwinnett for two contests before heading to South Carolina Sunday. Last season, the Walleye went 0-3-0 against the Gladiators and was outscored 16-8 in those contests. Gwinnett is second to Elmira in points overall with 21 (9-4-0-3). The Walleye went 0-3-1 in four games last season against the Stingrays. South Carolina is 4-2-1-0 at home this year.

Today’s Game: The Toledo Walleye finish a three game Florida swing tonight. The Everblades have taken the first two meetings as they also won 4-2 on Wednesday.
A New High: Toledo sent a single period season high 18 shots on goal in the first period Friday night. They outshot Florida 18-6 in the period but trailed 1-0 after the first.
Leblanc to the Top: Forward Peter Leblanc scored Toledo’s lone goal Friday night. He currently leads the Walleye in scoring with 4 goals and 8 assists. Peter is also second in the ECHL among rookies (Marc –Oliver Vallerand of Greenville 13 points).
Scouting the Everblades: Florida is 9-7-0-0 on the season and they sit second in the South Division. Florida is 6-1-0-0 at home this season. Forward Mitch Fadden leads the entire ECHL in scoring with 22 points (8g, 14a) in just 15 games played.

Today’s Game: The Toledo Walleye tangle with the Florida Everblades tonight in Florida. The Walleye lost the first of the three meeting in the sunshine state 4-2 Wednesday night.
Collecting Firsts: In Wednesday’s game, Toledo forwards Adam Keefe and Sal Peralta collected their first goals of the season.
Ending a String: The first period power play goal by Florida stopped a streak of five consecutive games in the Walleye penalty kill had not surrendered a goal. Overall, Toledo has just 9 power play goals in 58 times shorthanded (84.5%). The Walleye ranked 8th in the ECHL in penalty kill percentage.
Scouting the Everblades: Florida is 8-7-0-0 on the season and they sit second in the South Division. Florida is 5-1-0-0 at home this season. Forward Mitch Fadden scored twice in Wednesday’s game and leads Florida in points with 19 (8g, 11a).

Today’s Game: The Toledo Walleye tangle with the Florida Everblades tonight in Florida. The Walleye went 3-3-2 last year against the Everblades including 0-1-2 in three sunshine state contests. Florida outscored Toledo 31-24 in the eight meetings last year.
Time to Travel: Tonight starts a six-game southern swing for the Walleye in which they will travel 4,541 over the next two weeks. Toledo will be back at home on Wednesday, December 1st when they host Trenton.
Stirring the Soup: Walleye goaltender Scott Campbell is currently 10th among all ECHL goaltenders with a 2.51 goals against average. Campbell is 3-2-1-1 on the season with one shutout.

Walleye acquire Doug Krantz from Cyclones

Jason Griffin(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Doug Krantz from the Cincinnati Cyclones for future considerations.
Krantz comes to Toledo from the Cyclones where he collected two assists in 8 contests this season. Doug, the native of Marysville, BC, has skated in 93 professional games with 7 goals and 28 assists. His best offensive year was 2008-09 with the Wheeling Nailers when scored three times and helped on 21. As a four year letter winner at Cornell University, Krantz scored 15 goals with 23 assists in 131 games with the Big Red.

Offensive Explosion! The Walleye exploded for an 8-0 win at Kalamazoo on Saturday night. The last time the Walleye hit the 8 goal mark, Toledo beat Wheeling 8-4 on January 15, 2010. Goaltender Scott Campbell turned aside 34 shots to collect the shutout.
Penalty Kill Continues to Climb! Toledo’s penalty kill in the last 9 games has stopped 32 of the last 34 opportunities against. For the season, Toledo’s penalty kill is sitting at 85.2% (46-54).
20 Points in One Contest! In Saturday’s 8-0 win the Walleye collected 20 points (8goals, 12 assists). The big point producers were Andy Bohmbach (2g, 2a), Sebastien Piche (1g, 2a), Zack Torquato (1g, 1a), Peter Leblanc (1g, 1a), Evan Rankin (2g), and Kyle Page (1g, 1a).

Matt MelzakLast Game: Toledo was held without a goal by Cincinnati in a 2-0 loss Friday night. Marc Cheverie stopped all 43 of Toledo’s shots on goal. It was the second time this season that the Walleye have been held scoreless.
Today’s Game: The Toledo Walleye tangle with the Kalamazoo Wings in Kalamazoo. Toledo is 1-2-0-0 against the Wings this season. The Wings defeated Toledo 5-3 in the last meeting in the zoo.
Shots and more Shots: The Walleye set a new season high for shots in a game with 43 last night against Cincinnati. Toledo’s previous high was November 3rd against Elmira.
Penalty Kill Continues to Shine: Toledo stopped Cincinnati on all four power plays last night. Toledo is now 10th in the ECHL on the PK stopping 41-49 (83.7%) on the season. The Walleye have stopped 27 of the last 29 power plays against.

Jason GriffinThe fightin fish get ready for three games this weekend starting tonight versus Cincinnati at the Huntington Center. Face-off is set for 7:00 pm.
The Cyclones (3-5-3) defeated the Walleye (3-4-2) in overtime at Cincinnati on Wednesday night. The same two teams will hook up again on Sunday at the Huntington Center at 4:00 pm. Toledo will travel to Kalamazoo on Saturday at 7:30 pm.
After Sunday's game, the Walleye do not have another home game until Wednesday, December 1st.
Randy Rowe will not be with the team this weekend - he has been loaned to the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL).
Toledo is currently 4th in the league in attendance, averaging 5,818 per game and they have a home record of 2-3-1.
Ryan Stokes is 4th in the league with 44 penalty minutes.
Peter Leblanc is 2nd among league rookies with 8 points.

Today’s Game: The Toledo Walleye tangle with the Cincinnati Cyclones in Cincinnati. This is the second of 15 meetings this year between the two rivals. The Walleye won the first matchup 3-2 on October 29th at the Huntington Center.
Players against the Cyclones: Forwards Kyle Rogers and Andy Bohmbach along with Defenseman Ryan Stokes each scored for the Walleye in the first meeting against Cincinnati. Zack Torquato collected two assists in that contest.
Leading the Way: Forward Peter Leblanc is leading Toledo in scoring with 7 points (2g, 5a) in the first eight games. Evan Rankin, Randy Rowe, and Zack Torquato each have 3 goals to pace the Walleye in goal scoring. Jason Griffin(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced today that defenseman Sean Curry has agreed to terms with the team.
Sean, the native of Burnsville, Minnesota, has appeared in 525 games in the AHL since the 2002-03 season. Sean was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 7th round of the 2001 NHL entry draft. The 28-year-old had a career year in scoring during the 2007-08 season with the Providence Bruins, scoring 13 goals while adding 25 assists. Sean has collected 858 penalty minutes during his professional career.
The team also placed Scott Fletcher on injured reserve and released goaltender Tom Schaul today.

Duff and Richards Released

Jason Griffin(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced today that Robin Richards and Nick Duff have both been released.
24-year-old Duff had appeared in three games for the Walleye this season and collected four penalty minutes. He was placed on the injured reserve list on October 31. This is Duff’’s first professional season after spending four years at the University of British Columbia.
Richards (25) appeared in five games for Toledo, compiling 14 penalty minutes. He was placed on the injured reserve list on November 2. Richards is in his 6th professional season.
The Walleye will travel to Cincinnati to battle with the Cyclones on Wednesday night (Nov. 10) at 7:35 pm. The game can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA and online at toledowalleye.com.
The team will play three games this weekend:
Friday, November 12th vs. Cincinnati (7:00 pm at the Huntington Center)
Saturday, November 13th at Kalamazoo (7:30 pm)

Walleye Notes
Overtime Magic! The Walleye ended a three-game winless slide with a 3-2 overtime win Saturday night against the Kalamazoo Wings. Defenseman Tyler Gotto scored the game-winner at 2:12 of the extra session. It was Tyler’s first professional goal and it came on the power play.
Finally Some Power in the Power Play! Toledo’s power play went 3 for 6 in Saturday’s game against Kalamazoo. Forward Zack Torquato started the power play run at 1:25 of the third period. Randy Rowe tied the game with a power play goal at 7:27 of the third. Prior to that game, the Walleye were just 1 for 39 with the extra man.
Three for Rankin! Walleye forward Evan Rankin scored all three of Toledo’s goals Friday night in Kalamazoo. It was Evan’s third hat trick with the Walleye. Last season, Rankin twice scored at least three goals in a game. The first was a three-goal game January 18th against Johnstown and the second was his five-goal outburst in Charlotte on February 18th.
Gametime! Toledo will play four games this week. The four contests will feature three against the Cincinnati Cyclones and one against the Kalamazoo Wings. Toledo defeated Cincinnati 3-2 in the only meeting this year between the two (October 29). The Walleye have one win in three games against the Wings this year.
Coaches Show! This Tuesday night, the Walleye Coaches Show returns to Pizzapapalis from 6-7pm. Head Coach Nick Vitucci along with Walleye players Joe Charlebois and Tyler Gotto will join the “Voice of the Walleye†Matt Melzak. The show will also feature more giveaways including autographed pucks and tickets to upcoming Walleye home games!
Promotions! Friday night is another post-game party with Walleye Players in the Lighthouse Lounge. The first 1,000 fans through the doors will receive a Toledo Walleye Can Coozie presented by Huntington Bank. Sunday is Kid’s Day with the Walleye featuring Design-a-Sign, Chuck-a-Puck and after the game, there is a post-game skate with the team! Sunday is also National American Teddy Bear Day and fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal to the game for the annual Toss-a-Teddy Bear presented by BCSN! Fans will throw the animals on the ice following the Walleye’s first goal of the game. All donated plush toys will benefit Lucas County Children Services.

Walleye Get Ready For K-Wings

Jason GriffinThe Toledo Walleye will travel 90 minutes north tonight to play the first in a home and home series with their rivals from Kalamazoo.
Toledo is 2-3-0-1 (5 pts) on the year and sit in 8th place in the Eastern Conference and the K-Wings are 4-2-0-1 (9 pts) and sit in 5th place in the Eastern Conference.
Toledo was defeated by Kalamazoo 7-2 on October 22nd at the Huntington Center in their only meeting so far this season. Toledo is 2-6-0 all-time at Kalamazoo and the Toledo is 5-3-0 all-time at home versus the K-Wings.
This is just the second road game of the young season for this fish. They defeated the Wheeling Nailers 4-0 on Opening Night (October 15th). Kalamazoo is 2-0-0 at home this year.
Toledo is struggling on the power play so far this year (1-34) and they have killed off 79.3% on the penalty kill. Toledo has been out-scored 6-1 in 3rd periods so far this year.
The Walleye are lead by a pair of rookies: Andy Bohmbach (2 g, 3 a) and Zack Torquato (2 g, 3 a). Ryan Stokes is 2nd in the ECHL with 40 penalty minutes.
Andy Bohmbach leads the team in plus/minus (+3) and three players have 20 or more shots on the season (Torquato-22, Peter Leblanc-21, and Bohmbach-20).

Jason GriffinThe Toledo Walleye entertain the Elmira Jackals on Wednesday morning at 10:30 am at the Huntington Center. Head Coach Nick Vitucci has announced several player moves today.
Defenseman Nick Duff and forward Robin Richards have been placed on the injured reserve list.
Forward Sal Peralta has been activated from the injured reserve list and defenseman Sebastien Piche has been reassigned to Toledo from the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL).
Piche has played in three games with Grand Rapids and has one assist and four penalty minutes. The 22-year-old played in 46 games with the Walleye last season, scoring five goals with 23 assists.
This will be the first game against Elmira this season. Toledo collected three out of four possible points last weekend with a win against Cincinnati and a shoot-out loss against Reading.
Toledo is 2-2-0-1 on the young season.

Walleye Notes
Back in the Win Column! The Walleye scored three times and used a strong goaltending performance from Scott Campbell to beat Cincinnati 3-2 Friday night. Campbell turned aside 30 of 32 Cyclones shots. Toledo used goals from Andy Bohmbach, Ryan Stokes, and Kyle Rogers to collect the first home win of the season.
Shootout for the First Time! Saturday night marked the first time this year that the Walleye have participated in a shootout. The Royals got the best of Toledo 3-2 in the shootout and the game.
Going Shorthanded! Toledo collected its first shorthanded goal of the season Saturday night against the Reading Royals. Forward Zack Torquato finished off a breakaway at 2:14 into the second period for the goal.
Shooting Advantage? Toledo has a record of 2-0-0-1 when being outshot this season. The Walleye are 0-2-0-0 when leading the shot category.
Gametime! Toledo will play three games this week. The first contest is Wednesday morning when the Elmira Jackals come to town. Toledo was 3-2-0-0 against the Jackals last year. Friday and Saturday night, Toledo will play a home and home series with division rival Kalamazoo (Friday in K-Zoo and Saturday home). The Wings defeated Toledo 7-2 on October 22nd in the only meeting this year between the two.
