Veteran broadcaster Ryan Schuiling joins the fish for 2010-11 campaign…
(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Walleye announced today that they have hired Ryan Schuiling to be the lead play-by-play broadcaster for all home games this season on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA.
Ryan began his career in 1997 as an afternoon drive radio talk show host at WBBL-1340 AM in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During a four-year stint there, he also called play-by-play for the Grand Rapids Area High School Hockey Game of the Week as well as the Grand Rapids Bearcats (Junior A) and hosted a weekly half-hour call-in hockey program ("Face-Off").
The Ann Arbor, Michigan native has worked over 13 years professionally at various stops in sports broadcasting and media relations, most recently serving as the radio play-by-play voice for Central Michigan University Athletics (football, men's basketball, baseball, softball) over the last three seasons. Ryan previously worked for the Grand Rapids Griffins as a media relations assistant and playoff intermission reporter during the team's 2005-06 AHL North Division Championship season.
Ryan graduated from Grass Lake High School (Mich.) in 1992 and earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree from Central Michigan University in 1996. Ryan is single and lives in Lansing, Michigan.

Josh Heller lands job as the voice of the Albany Devils in the AHL…
(TOLEDO, OH) – The Toledo Walleye are pleased to announce that home radio broadcaster Josh Heller has accepted the position of play-by-play broadcaster with the Albany Devils of the American Hockey League. Heller spent the 2009-2010 season behind the microphone for all of the Walleye home games.
Prior to broadcasting with the Walleye, Heller spent two seasons as Media Relations Manager/Broadcaster for the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL where he called games for the 2008-2009 Stingray’s Kelly Cup Championship.
While with South Carolina, Heller was chosen to broadcast the 2009 ECHL All-Star Game in Reading, PA and was named 2009 ECHL Broadcaster of the Year.
Before working with South Carolina, Heller attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA. At Northeastern, he served as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Northeastern Huskies men's hockey team from 2005-2007.
He was also the sports director for 104.9 FM WRBB radio before graduating in 2007 with a BA in Communication Studies.
Heller is 25-years-old and originally from Sharon, MA.

Camp Opens Friday, October 1st at the Huntington Center…
(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced today the schedule for the 2010 Toledo Walleye Training Camp. The full schedule is listed below.
Toledo will play three pre-season games with the lone home contest on October 9th against the Kalamazoo Wings. The other pre-season contests are October 6th against Wheeling (in Johnstown, PA), and October 8th at Kalamazoo.
Players will be split in to two teams for practices and scrimmages throughout the training camp.
All practices at the Huntington Center are free and open to the public during Swamp Shop store hours:
Monday-Friday from 11:00 am-5:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am-2:00 pm.

Nick Duff and Robin Richards Ink Deals With The Fish…
(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced today that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Nick Duff and forward Robin Richards for the 2010-11 season. Terms are based on both players making the team at the start of the 2010-11 season.
Duff, a native of Novi, MI, has spent the past four years with the University of British Columbia. Nick appeared in 96 games during his time with the Thunderbirds. Prior to that, he spent time in the OHL (Ontario Hockey League) with the Brampton Battalion and the Kitchener Rangers. In 2005-06, Nick collected three goals with eight helpers in 63 contests while racking up 135 penalty minutes.
Richards joins the Walleye following a season in the CHL with Laredo. In 58 games with the Bucks, Robin scored nine goals with 10 assists and 237 penalty minutes. Since turning professional in 2005, Richards has collected 891 penalty minutes in 202 contests. The native of Winnipeg, Manitoba has played with Cincinnati, Columbia, and most recently Alaska (2008-09) in the ECHL.

Coaches Show Starts On September 28th

Matt Melzak and Nick Vitucci discuss the upcoming season as Training Camp begins just a couple days later on October 1st at the Huntington Center.

By the way, Coaches Shows on October 5th and 12th will be extra special as the whole team will be in attendance for a "Meet The Team" event.

Forward has scored 199 Career Goals
(Toledo, OH) – The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Randy Rowe for the 2010-11 season. Terms are based on Rowe making the team to begin the 2010 season.
Rowe joins the Walleye after nine successful professional seasons between the ECHL and the American Hockey League. Randy has appeared in 534 career regular season contests. He has scored 199 career goals with 241 assists in those contests.
The Burford, Ontario native split his previous season between Lake Erie (AHL) and Charlotte (ECHL). Rowe collected 16 points (5g, 11a) in 25 contests with the Monsters. Randy also collected 18 points (11g, 7a) in 17 regular season games with Charlotte. He also collected a goal and six assists in 11 postseason games last year with the Checkers. In 2007-08, Rowe led the Johnstown Chiefs in scoring with 68 points (24g, 44a).

Team Extends Training Camp Invite to Five Players…Three Players Will Attend Training Camp
(TOLEDO, OH) – The Toledo Walleye have extended training camp offers to five players that participated in the Free Agent Tryout Camp on August 14 & 15 at the Huntington Center.
Forwards Anthony Iaquinto and Bryan Potacco along with defensemen Alex Contis and Calvin Northam and goaltender Frederic Ettedgui were all invited to the 2010 Toledo Walleye Training Camp. Potacco, Northam and Ettedgui have accepted the invitation and will attend training camp. The first on-ice practice is scheduled for Friday, October 1st at the Huntington Center.
Walleye Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Nick Vitucci said, “This year’s talent pool was a pleasant upgrade from last year’s camp. I credit the players for showing up in great condition and with a very high competition level.â€
Will Attend Walleye Training Camp
27-year-old goaltender Frederic Ettedgui (6’0†160 lbs.) has played for the Brossard Broncos (Senior A), the Harrington Snipers (ASHL A,) and the Monteregie Hunters (IHL AA), with whom he won the best goaltender award. He also played for the South Stars (IHL AAA) All-Stars (4 on 4 challenge/LHJMQ/Junior AAA) and won Goaltender of the tournament. Ettedgui is from Candiac, Quebec, Canada.
22-year-old forward Bryan Potacco (5’10â€, 180 lbs.) is from Kinnelon, New Jersey. He played two seasons (29 games) at Bowling Green State University (2008-10) and two seasons for the St. Michaels Buzzers (2006-08) in the OPJHL.
22-year-old defenseman Calvin Northam (6’7â€, 225 lbs.) played two years for the Riddley College hockey team and two years in the GMHL (Junior A). He currently resides in Ajax, Ontario, Canada.
Will Not Attend Walleye Training Camp
Alex Contis (22) resides in Calabasas, CA and played from 2005-2007 with Tilton Prep (Division I NEPSHL) and then from 2007-2009 with Hobart College (NCAA-ECAC West).
Anthony Iaquinto (20) resides in Southfield, MI and played AAA hockey in the Detroit area from squirts to midget major for Compuware, Honeybaked and Belle Tire. He played for the London Knights in 2007 (OHL) and various teams in the NAHL (North American Hockey League) from 2008-10.
The Walleye open their 2010-11 ECHL season on Friday, October at Wheeling, WV versus the Wheeling Nailers. The home opener is set for Saturday, October 16th at 7:00 pm at the Huntington Center versus the Wheeling Nailers.
