Jamie Milam’s goal at 13:35 of the third period proved to be the game-winner. With Toledo on the power play, he took a pass from Jean-Claude Sawyer to give the Walleye the lead. Adam Hobson was also credited with an assist on the play.
Two goals 18 seconds apart then gave the Walleye a comfortable 5-2 lead. Justin Hodgman made it a 4-2 game at 16:28 of the third period, skating alongside the left boards then deking Everglades netminder Chris Beckford-Tseu, who made 32 saves on the night. Tommy Lange set the crowd into a frenzy just seconds later, settling a bouncing puck in front of the net before his slap shot made it 5-2.
