Fish Out of Water; Offense Dry in Florida - Walleye Lose 6-1 In Sunshine State
11/11/2009 - Florida scored two goals in each period, and only Justin Hodgman’s third period tally prevented the Walleye from being shutout. The Walleye have two more games in Florida on Friday and Saturday before returning home next weekend.
The Walleye matched their lowest offensive output of the season. It marks the third time in 11 games they have been held to one goal, and second time in four games versus the Everblades. They lost 2-1 to Florida on Opening Night (Oct. 16) at Lucas County Arena and won 1-0 in overtime vs. Trenton on Oct. 24.
The 6-1 loss, however, is Toledo’s largest loss of the season. With the exception of a 7-3 loss vs. Reading on Oct. 23, the Walleye’s other three losses were by a combined five goals, including two games where just one goal was the difference.
The Walleye were out-shot 27-23, and their top-ranked power play (29.7 percent) did not convert in nine chances.
