Walleye Return From Florida After Two Point Weekend - Home Game This Friday!
11/14/2009 - The Walleye lost an overtime decision to the Florida Everblades on Saturday night. The Walleye earned two points in three games in the series, but now return home for eight straight games at Lucas County Arena.
Toledo dominated the first period, out-shooting the Everblades 19-6, but could not capitalize on their strong play and the teams remained scoreless into the first intermission. Both teams scored three times in the following period, with Jamie Milan, Justin Hodgman and Tommy Lange scoring for the Walleye. Lange’s tally was short-handed and tied the game 3-3 in the final five minutes of the second.
The teams once again exchanged goals in the third, both on the power play. A.J. Thelen gave the Everblades the lead with a goal under three minutes into the period, but Lange scored on the man advantage with just under eight minutes to play to tie it up.
In overtime, Florida dominated the action, and out-shot Toledo, 6-1. Scott Hotham won it for the Everblades with just 40 seconds remaining in the extra session, beating goalie Jordan Pearce for the game-winner. Pearce made 26 saves on 31 shots for the night.
Before the game, forward Maxime Tanguay, defenseman J.C. Sawyer and goalie Alec Richards were all recalled to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
