(Johnstown, PA) – The Toledo Walleye continued to dominate the Johnstown Chiefs this season as Derek Nesbitt scored three times in a 7-4 win. Toledo’s record is 24-16-1-3 on the season, and they are 8-6-1-2 on the road. The Walleye have won all five games against the Chiefs this season.

Just 43 seconds into the game the Walleye would grab a 1-0 lead. Nesbitt took a perfect pass from Maxime Tanguay and his one-timer beat goaltender John Murray for his 8th goal of the season (Adam Hobson also assisting). The Chiefs would counter with back-to-back goals on Jordan Pearce to take a 2-1 lead. At 17:34 the Walleye would tie the game as Sebastien Piche blasted a one-timer behind Murray for his 4th goal of the year (Dominic Osman, and Malcolm MacMillan). Just one minute and fourteen seconds later, Hobson would tip a Nesbitt shot past Murray to give Toledo a 3-2 lead after the first. It was the 17th goal of the season for Adam Hobson.

Toledo would extend the lead to two at 4:21 of the second when Chris Robertson blew a wrist shot past Murray for his 10th goal (Mike Hedden, Mark Nebus). Derek Nesbitt would collect his second goal of the game as he took a pass from Hobson and his wrist shot beat Murray for a 5-2 lead after two periods.

The Chiefs would strike twice early in the third to close to within one goal. Adam Hobson would collect his second goal of the game at 15:36 to give Toledo a 6-4 lead (Maxime Tanguay, Derek Nesbitt). The Walleye would end it with an empty net goal from Nesbitt his third of the game (Piche).

Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jordan Pearce started and made 27 saves. Piche’s first period goal was a power play goal, and Toledo finished 1 for 3 with the extra man. The win snapped a three game losing streak for the Walleye. Toledo has scored at least five goals in the games against Johnstown this season.

Toledo will be back on the home ice Friday, February 12 against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
