(Elmira, NY)– The Toledo Walleye made it two in a row as Mike Hedden scored at 1:05 of overtime to beat Elmira 5-4 . Toledo’s record is 25-16-1-3 on the season, and they are 9-6-1-2 on the road.

The Jackals got the scoring started when Keegan Dansereau’s shot deflected off of skates in front and past Alec Richards for a 1-0 lead. Toledo would tie it at one as Scooter Smith slid a rebound past Julien Ellis for his 7th goal of the season at 9:35. Joe Charlebois had the original shot off a pass from Malcolm MacMillan. Elmira would regain the lead at 11:59 when Justin Donati beat Richards.

The Jackals extended the lead to 3-1 at 8:57 as Dansereau collected his second of the game. Toledo would pull within one goal when Dominic Osman took a pass from MacMillan and wristed a shot under the bar for his 11th goal of the year (Luis Tremblay also assisting).

In the third, Toledo would tie the game when JC Sawyer slapped his 18th goal of the year past Ellis at 2:53 (Derek Nesbitt, Maxime Tanguay). Elmira would regain the lead with a power play goal at 9:10. At 16:10 Chris Robertson let a wicked wrist shot go from the top of the right circle to tie the game (Mark Nebus).

In overtime, Robertson collected a turnover in the Elmira zone and made a pass to Sebastien Piche. Piche waited a moment and the fed a pass to Mike Hedden in front for a tap in to win the game for Toledo. It was the 13th goal of the season for Hedden.

Walleye Notes: Goaltender Alec Richards made 35 saves for his 13th win of the year. Malcolm MacMillan has 2 goals and 12 assists in his last 13 games.

Toledo will be back on the home ice Friday, February 12 against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
