(Johnstown, PA)– The Toledo Walleye scored five times in a 5-2 win over Johnstown. Toledo’s record is 29-23-1-3 on the season, and they are 12-12-1-2 on the road. Toledo is also 6-0-0-0 against the Chiefs this season.

Toledo collected the game’s first goal at 11:37 while on the power play. Forward Evan Rankin skated to the side of the net and through a pass to Maxime Tanguay whose one-timer beat John Murray for a 1-0 lead. Sal Peralta, acquired from Ontario (ECHL) last weekend, also assisted on Toledo’s first goal.

In the second period, Toledo would extend their lead to 2-0 at 3:18 as Peralta scored his first goal with the Walleye. Maxime Tanguay fed a pass to Peralta in the left circle and Sal one-timed it past Murray (Rankin). The lead would extend to 3-0 at 5:34 when Tanguay collected his second goal of the game and 19th of the season. This time it was JC Sawyer who found Tanguay for a one-timer from the left circle for the goal after Evan Rankin collected a steal at center ice to start the breakout.

“It was nice to get the offense going a bit,” said head coach Nick Vitucci. “This team is capable of big offensive numbers and we saw that tonight.”

Johnstown would finally strike at 12:11 when Sean Berkstresser beat Alec Richards with a wrist shot. Toledo would regain a three goal lead at 18:12 of the second when Mike Hedden deposited a rebound for his 14th goal of the year. Malcolm MacMillan won the faceoff inside the Johnstown zone to Mark Nebus for the shot that Murray stopped before Hedden found the back of the net.

Toledo would make it 5-1 when Sal Peralta at 3:13 tapped in a rebound off of an Evan Rankin shot (Justin Suda). Johnstown would add a goal at 13:51 from Bryan Marshall.

Walleye Notes: The Walleye are 12-3-0-1 against the East Division this year. Maxime Tanguay’s goal was the first for Toledo since the third period of the 7-0 win at Charlotte on February 18th.
