
Cyclones Stop Toledo, 5-1; Walleye Host Kalamazoo Saturday Night
2/18/2011 - (Cincinnati, OH)– Cincinnati scored three times in the first period and beat Toledo 5-1 tonight. Toledo is 23-22-3-1 on the season and 12-10-2-0 on the road. Toledo is 6-4-1-0 against Cincinnati this season.
Cincinnati started the game off with all the momentum as they would outscore the Walleye 3-0 in the first. The Cyclones would also outshoot the Walleye 20-3 in that period. The three shots for Toledo is a season low for the Walleye.
“We came out with absolutely no jump or energy tonight,” said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. “Joe Palmer kept us in reach, but the Cyclones were too much tonight. You can’t dig a hole like we did tonight and hope to come away with a win against a good team like Cincinnati.”
The Cyclones collected the only goal in the second period as they outshot Toledo 10-9. After Cincinnati made it 5-0, Toledo would get its lone goal at 15:45 of the third period. Dominic Osman won a faceoff in the Cincinnati zone right to Willie Coetzee whose one-timer beat Brian Foster for Coetzee’s 6th goal of the year.
Walleye Notes:
-Walleye goaltender Joe Palmer made 37saves is 9-11-1-0 on the season for Toledo.
-The loss snapped Toledo’s season high six game road winning streak.
