
Walleye Drop Regular Season Finale Against the Nailers, 4-3
4/2/2011 - (Wheeling, WV)– Wheeling struck for four goals in the second period and defeated the Walleye 4-3 tonight in Wheeling. Toledo finished the 2010-11 season with a record of 33-33-6 on the season and 17-16-3 on the road.
The two teams skated end to end for much of the first period as the two teams combined for 25 shots on goal. Goaltender Joe Palmer turned aside all 13 shots he faced.
“We gave another great effort tonight,” said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. “Although this season did not go as we had planned back last summer, one thing we did do is fought hard all year long. Through all the call-ups and injuries this year, this team never stopped trying.”
The scoring started in the second as the Nailers struck for four in the period. The Walleye would get a pair of goals. The first Toledo goal came at 5:18 of the second period when Mike Hedden deflected Sebastien Piche’s shot past Wheeling goaltender Peter Delmas for his 32nd goal of the season. The second goal of the game for the Walleye came at 8:35 of the period when Hedden fed a pass in front to Piche for his 12th goal of the season.
Andy Bohmbach would pull Toledo within one at 15:05 of the third when he collected his 28th goal of the season. A furious finish saw Toledo heavy in the Nailers' zone, but Toledo was unable to tie the game.

-Walleye goaltender Joe Palmer made 34 saves and is 10-14-1 on the season. Wheeling out shot -Toledo 38-36 for the game.
