Walleye fall to the Road Warriors, 4-1
1/7/2012 - (Toledo, OH)-Jeremy Tucker scored the lone Walleye goal on Saturday night, as the Greenville Road Warriors defeated Toledo 4-1 in front of a crowd of 6,525 fans. The Walleye are now 13-17-0-1 and 8-9-0-1 at home.
The Road Warriors got on the scoreboard early in the contest after Connor Shields scored a power play goal on Walleye goaltender Rob Nolan. Brandon Wong and Brendan Connolly got the assists on the goal that came at 3:10 of the first period.
Marc-Olivier Vallerand gave Greenville a 2-0 lead at the 8:27 mark of the opening period.
Greenville picked up a shorthanded goal at 14:40 after Jeremy Gouchie took a pass from Connolly and slid the puck past Nolan, extending their lead to 3-0.
Jeremy Tucker notched his first goal of the season at 5:28 of the second period knocking a puck behind Greenville net minder Bryan Hince. David Toews and Matt Krug picked up the assists on the goal.
Toledo sent 11 shots on goal for a two period total of 14.
Greenville took a 4-1 lead at 11:15 of the third period, after Wong put a shot behind Nolan.
Walleye Wrap-Up:
-Walleye goaltender Rob Nolan stopped 24 of 28 shots on goal and is 6-9-1 on the season.
-Each team sent 28 shots on goal throughout the course of the game.
