Toledo pushes past Reading for 4-2 victory!



10/28/2012 - (Reading, PA)–Toledo pulled away from the Royals in third period for a 4-2 win in Reading. Toledo is 4-2-0-0 on the season and 2-2-0-0 on the road.

For the second consecutive game the Walleye would collect the game’s first goal. At 4:22 of the first Luke Glendening would fire a wrist shot past Royals goaltender Phillip Grubauer. It was the second goal of the season for Luke, who scored his first Saturday night in Trenton. Randy Rowe and Wes O’Neill drew the assists.

“We brought great energy to the start of today’s game, which is tough to do in these three games in three days,” said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. “This game was a grind but we made the plays to win.”

The Reading Royals would score a pair of goals in the first seven minutes of second period to claim a 2-1 lead. Toledo would counter with a power play at 12:48 of the period. Defenseman Wes O’Neill let a wrist shot go from the blue line that eluded the Reading goaltender for his second goal of the season. Ben Youds collected the lone assist. Toledo would enjoy a five on three power play late in the second, but were unable to score despite numerous chances.

Toledo would grab the lead for good at 3:03 of the third period when Max Campbell fed a pass in front of the Reading net that Andrej Nestrasil tipped past Grubauer. Nestrasil would score his fourth goal of the season on an empty netter.

Walleye Notes: Goaltender Kent Simpson made 25 saves and is 2-1-0-0 on the season. Toledo had a record of 2-1-1 against the Royals last season. With his appearance today, Kyle Rogers has tied Evan Rankin for the most games played in Walleye history (143).
