Komets fly by Toledo on Wednesday, 4-2



11/7/2012 - (Toledo, OH)-Luke Glendening and Byron Froese each picked up a goal for the Walleye as they fell to the Fort Wayne Komets, 4-2 at the Huntington Center on Wednesday morning. Toledo now stands at 4-5-0-1 overall and is 2-3-0 at home.

Fort Wayne would open the scoring at the 12:45 mark of the first period off of a goal from Jean-Michele Rizk.

Toledo answered right back off of Luke Glendening’s fourth goal of the season. Glendening tipped a Phil Rauch shot behind Komets goaltender Charlie Effinger at 15:25 of the period. Phil Oreskovic picked up the second assist on the goal.

Walleye goaltender Kent Simpson faced 11 shots in the opening period, while Toledo sent nine shots at the Fort Wayne net.

Neither team scored a goal in the second period, keeping the score tied up at 1-1.

Simpson stopped all three shots on goal, and Toledo fired 11 shots at Fort Wayne’s Effinger.

Byron Froese broke the tie at 7:06 of the third period after he rifled a shot past Effinger. Oreskovic and Ben Youds assisted on the goal from the Walleye.

The Komets would add three unanswered third period goals to pick up a 4-2 victory over the Walleye.
