Walleye pound the Nailers 6-1 in Toledo!
11/17/2012 - (Toledo, OH)-Willie Coetzee and Luke Glendening each scored twice for Toledo, as the Walleye pounded the Wheeling Nailers for a 6-1 win at the Huntington Center on Saturday night. The Walleye extended their record to 8-6-0-1 overall and 4-4-0 on home ice.
Toledo would waste no time getting on the board, scoring just :58 into the game. Captain Kyle Rogers took a great pass from Randy Rowe and rifled a snap shot behind Wheeling goaltender Patrick Killeen. Joey Ryan recorded the second assist on the goal.
The Walleye would add another goal at 4:16 of the period. Byron Froese lifted a shot behind Killeen after taking a pass from Andrej Nestrasil. Goaltender Kent Simpson also picked up an assist on Toledo’s second goal of the night.
Willie Coetzee extended Toledo’s lead to 3-0 after he had a goal go in off of a Wheeling defenseman’s stick. Max Campbell gathered the lone assist on the tally.
Simpson saved all six of the shots he faced during that period.
Luke Glendening lit the lamp 1:18 into the second period to give Toledo a 4-0 lead. Defenseman Ben Youds assisted on Glendening’s seventh goal of the year.
Simpson kept Wheeling off the board for a second straight period, stopping 10 shots on goal.
Glendening tacked on another quick goal as he backhanded the puck behind Killeen to make the score 5-0. The unassisted, shorthanded goal came 1:09 into the third period.
Toledo would bring the Huntington Center to its feet again at 5:30 of the period after Coetzee took a pass from Joey Martin and fired a slap shot behind Killeen. Coetzee’s seventh of the year extended the Walleye’s lead to 6-0.
Wheeling would pick up its only goal of the game with 1:48 left to play in the game; giving Toledo a 6-1 victory.

-Walleye goaltender Kent Simpson stopped 23 of 24 shots on goal and is now 3-4-0-1 on the season.
-Joey Martin extended his point streak to three games.
-The six goals in tonight’s game was a season high for the Walleye.
