IceMen top Toledo in weekend finale, 3-2
12/2/2012 - (Evansville, IN)–Toledo threw 39 shots on goal but fell at Evansville 3-2. Toledo has a record of 13-8-0-1 and is 7-3-0-1 on the road this season. The Loss snapped Toledo’s season high four game winning streak.
The IceMen would collect the lone goal of the first period when defenseman Sean Whitney beat Jordan Pearce with a wrist shot at 9:48. The shots were even at 13 after one period though Toledo trailed 1-0.
“We asked the guys to play smart simple hockey today,” said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. “It took us awhile to get going but the guys battled all night along. You have to credit Allen York today; he made a ton of great stops.”
The IceMen would go up 2-0 on Toledo 5:58 into the second period Nathan Moon deflected a pass between the pads of Pearce. The Walleye get on the board at 6:24 of the second when Travis Novak blasted a wrist shot past Evansville goaltender Allen York. Terry Broadhurst and Luke Glendening assisted on the second goal of the season for Novak.
Evansville would regain a two goal in the third period when Dylan Clarke beat Jordan Pearce with a wrist shot at 4:25 of the third. Toledo would get within one goal when Randy Rowe deflected Andrej Nestrasil’s shot past York at 7:11 of the period.
Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jordan Pearce made 27 saves and is 6-2-0-0 on the season. Toledo is 8-5-0-0 against teams from the North Division this year. Travis Novak has goals in back to back games after going 15 games without a goal to start the season.
