Walleye drop a heartbreaker to Fort Wayne, 3-1
2/23/2013 - (Toledo, OH)-Nino Musitelli scored the lone goal for Toledo tonight as they dropped a 3-1 decision to the Fort Wayne Komets in front of a sold-out crowd of 8,200 at the Huntington Center on Saturday night. Toledo now stands at 30-19-2-4 on the season and 15-8-1-3 on home ice.
Toledo and Fort Wayne both had multiple scoring chances, but skated to a scoreless first period tie. The Walleye sent seven shots at Jeff Deslauriers, while Walleye goaltender Kent Simpson stopped the seven shots he faced.
Fort Wayne took a 1-0 lead at the 11:52 mark of the second period after Matt Syroczynski poked a rebound behind Simpson on the power play.
Nino Musitelli ripped a shot behind Deslauriers at 14:04 of the third period after getting a pass from Tyler Brenner. Stephon Thorne also assisted on Toledo’s only goal of the night.
Brandon Marino broke the tie at 17:06 of the third period, sneaking a shot behind Simpson. Jean-Michel Rizk scored an empty net goal at the 19:55 mark of the period, giving the Komets a 3-1 win.

-Goaltender Kent Simpson saved 26 shots and is 14-11-0-3 this season.
-Toledo had their seven game home unbeaten streak snapped tonight.
-Tonight’s game marked the sixth sellout of the season and the 36th in the history of the Walleye at the Huntington Center.
