
Trevor Parkes named ECHL Player of the Week!
3/5/2013 - Trevor Parkes of the Toledo Walleye is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Feb. 25-March 3.
Parkes scored six goals and added five assists for 11 points in four games last week. The 21-year-old forward started the week with three points (2g-1a) in a 5-4 shootout loss at Fort Wayne on Tuesday and had an assist in a 6-3 loss at Evansville on Thursday. He scored three goals and added an assist in a 7-1 win against Evansville on Saturday and tallied three points (1g-2a) in a 5-4 overtime loss against Trenton on Sunday.
The native of Fort Erie, Ontario has 15 points (7g-8a) in seven games with the Walleye this season while collecting nine points (3g-6a) in 34 games with Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League. Parkes appeared in four games last year with the Walleye scoring four goals. He spent most of last year with the Grand Rapids Griffins; scoring eight points (2g-6a) in 44 games.
Prior to turning professional, the 6’2”, 202 pound forward led the Montreal Juniors in 2010-11 with 33 goals. He also led the Juniors with 12 power play goals that seasons and ranked 15th in the QMJHL in goal scoring.
On behalf of Trevor Parkes, a case of pucks will be donated to a Toledo youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 27,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
