3/8/2013 - (Cincinnati, OH)–For only the second time this season, Toledo was held without a goal as Cincinnati defeated Toledo 3-0. Toledo has an overall record of 31-21-5-4 and is 15-13-2-1 on the road this season.

A back and forth first period of play saw each team register a ton of chances but neither team could score a goal. Kent Simpson made 11 saves in the first period and Michael Houser turned aside 9 from the Walleye.

“It is so important for us to get going in the right direction and start stringing together some wins,” said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. “This game was a slugfest from the get go. I was very happy with how we played; it just didn’t go our way tonight.”

The Cincinnati Cyclones would grab the lead at 7:34 of the second period when Mathieu Aubin beat Simpson with a one-timer from the right circle. Cincinnati held a 12-5 shot advantage in the second period.
Toledo threw 10 shots on the Cincinnati net in the third period, but Houser shut down the Walleye. Cincinnati would put two empty net goals on the board to finish the scoring.

Walleye Notes: Goaltender Kent Simpson made 30 saves and is 14-12-2-3 on the season. Toledo finished the year 4-3-1-0 against Cincinnati this year. Tonight was the second time this season that Toledo did not draw a penalty call (February 17 vs. Fort Wayne).
