Walleye stung by Stingrays on Wednesday, 2-0

(Toledo, OH)  Jared Coreau made 41 saves for the Walleye but Toledo fell to South Carolina 2-0 Wednesday night at the Huntington Center. Toledo has an overall record of 16-34-3-1 and is 9-17-0-0 at home.

The Stingrays would score the first goal of the game at 5:00 of the first when Peter Boyd beat Jared Coreau with a wrist shot from the right circle.

“We still have a few more things to clean up in our own end,” said Head Coach Dan Watson. “The effort was there all night long sometimes you have to credit the other team for making the plays.”

The Stingrays would grab the second goal of the game at 12:28 of the second period when Wayne Simpson collected a shorthanded goal. South Carolina out shot Toledo 43-27 for the game.

Walleye Notes:  Goaltender Jared Coreau made 41 saves on 43 shots in net for Toledo. Coreau has a record 1-11-3-1 on the season. Toledo is winless in eleven consecutive games (0-10-0-1). Walleye finished season series 0-3-1 vs. South Carolina.
