MATT MELZAK
Radio/TV Play-by-Play
Matt Melzak makes his return to the booth as "The Voice of the Toledo Walleye" in their inaugural season. Matt will serve as the lead television announcer for all home games and serve as the primary radio announcer while the team is on the road. Melzak will also host the weekly coaches show during the season on Fox Sports Radio 1230, WCWA.
Matt was the Director of Communications and the voice of the Toledo Storm from 2003-2007. In 2006, Matt was selected as a member of the ECHL All-Star Game broadcast team.
A native of Toledo, 33-year-old Melzak has called over 400 hockey games at different levels, including a full season as the voice of Bowling Green State University Hockey. He has also worked for BCSN since its inception calling football, baseball, and hockey telecasts. Matt has also worked for ESPN 106.5 the Ticket, and 94.5 WXKR.
Matt graduated from Toledo St. Francis High School in 1994 and the University of Toledo in 1999.
JOSH HELLER
Home Radio Play-by-Play
Josh Heller joins the Walleye as their lead radio announcer for all home games. Heller most recently spent two years as the Media Relations Manager/Broadcaster for the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL. Last season he was chosen to broadcast the ECHL All-Star Game in Reading, PA and was named 2009 ECHL Broadcaster of the Year.
Prior to working with the Stingrays, Heller attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA. At Northeastern, he served as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Northeastern Huskies men's hockey team from 2005-2007. He was also the sports director for 104.9 FM WRBB radio before graduating in 2007 with a BA in Communication Studies.
Heller is originally from Sharon, MA.
