Furious Game 4 comeback by Walleye falls short

(Kalamazoo, MI) Both Tylor and Tyson Spink each scored once with a pair of assists but the Walleye were defeated 8-5 by the Wings Wednesday night in Kalamazoo. Game five is Friday night at the Huntington Center with the series tied at two.

The Wings raced to a big first period with a four goal frame. Toledo’s lone goal came from Tyson Spink (2nd) on the power play at 10:04 of the first from Evan Rankin and Tylor Spink.

Early in the second period the KWings finished off a power play with a goal for a 5-1 lead. Alex Globke finished the regular season with 8 points (4G, 4A) over the final five games and at 16:01 his wrist shot beat Nick Riopel for his first goal of the playoffs. Kalamazoo slipped in another goal with just 29 seconds left in the second period.

Just 1:11 into the third period, Kyle Bonis (5th) snuck in power play goal followed quickly by a backhand shot from Tylor Spink (2nd) and Toledo moved to within two. The KWings made it 7-5 when Josh Pitt slammed in a rebound at 14:02. Josh Pitt collected his third goal of the game at 18:37 to salt away the win.

Goaltender Jake Paterson started the game and had 7 saves in 11 shots before lifted for Jeff Lerg. Lerg posted 16 saves on 19 shots and took the defeat. Kyle Bonis has a goal in all four games of the series.
