Walleye add size to blue line

Toledo, OH – Defenseman Davis Vandane has agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye for the 2017-18 season.

The 6’4”, 210 pound defenseman appeared in a career best 68 games this past season with the Elmira Jackals posting 11 goals, 26 assists with 61 penalty minutes. Vandane finished the season strong with four goals and five assists over the last eight games. His 37 points ranked third on the Jackals in scoring.

“Davis brings a big strong element to our defense core for the upcoming season,” said Head Coach Dan Watson. “He brings a toughness to the position while adding in an offensive flair as evident by his points last year.”

The Yorkton, Saskatchewan native appeared with three teams in the ECHL over his professional season in 2015-16 splitting time between Greenville, Alaska and Norfolk while accruing two goals with six assists and 10 penalty minutes. Prior to turning professional, he appeared in two years with the University of Calgary appearing in 33 contests with 18 points (5G, 13A). The 25-year-old defenseman played in 189 games from Saskatoon, Spokane and Prince Albert in the WHL from 2009 through 2013 prior to college with 79 points (15G, 64A) and a plus 27 rating.
