Kalamazoo's Ben Wilson suspended indefinitely


Three goals in the first period led the Walleye to a 4-1 victory over the Wings in the second game of their playoff series. Jake Paterson stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced and is 2-0 in the postseason.

The Walleye took an early 3-0 lead just 8:11 into a physical first period on goals from Kyle Bonis (2), Tyson Spink, and Evan Rankin (2) on the power play. The first period also saw a total of 49 penalty minutes, combined from both teams. The Wings recorded eight shots on goal in the first frame.

The middle frame saw no goals until Evan Rankin netted his second of the game when he beat Wings goaltender Joel Martin at 9:51 of the second.

The Walleye killed off all six of Kalamazoo’s power plays in the game.

The Walleye will face Kalamazoo for games three and four in K-Zoo on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
