Walleye News and Notes

2018 Kelly Cup Playoffs spot secured: For the fourth consecutive year the Toledo Walleye will be a part of the postseason. It is the first time in Walleye history that the team has reached postseason play in four straight years. The Toledo ECHL record for longest consecutive years in the playoffs is eight straight years (1992-1999).

ECHL record set: With the 8-0 defeat of Quad City on Friday night, the Toledo Walleye set a new ECHL record for most wins over a four year span (189). The Alaska Aces twice achieved 188 wins over a four year span to hold the record until the Walleye broke it from 2014 until the present.

24 and counting: Saturday night’s crowd of 8,165 and Sunday’s 7,453 marked the 23rd and 24th times this season that the Walleye have had a standing room only crowd at the Huntington Center, a single season record. Toledo’s average for the season is 7,538 and they have seen 241,225 come through the gates in total.

Nagle reaches 30 wins: Back to back wins for goaltender Pat Nagle on Friday and Saturday night boosted his win total to 30 on the season which leads the ECHL. It is also a new personal high for the 30 year old goaltender. He is just four wins shy of the single season Walleye record held by goaltender Jake Paterson (34 in 2016-17).

Time to go road tripping: Toledo will play another four games in five days this week inside three different cities starting with Wednesday and Friday at Quad City. Saturday, Toledo will slide in Indy before a Sunday tilt at Cincinnati to round out the week. All three teams are division rivals and Toledo has a record of 24-11-1 vs. the division this year.

Walleye Player of the Week: Mike Borkowski (2 goals – 3 assists = 5 points)

Walleye Goaltender of the Week: Pat Nagle (2-0-0, 1.19 GAA, .956 save %)
