June 4 - Final drawings for the downtown arena were unveiled today by the Lucas County commissioners. The arena's designers said a mix of brick, glass, and greenery will help it blend with Toledo's downtown and become an area for people to congregate and mingle - even without a game or concert.

Toledo Arena Sports is pleased to announce that the head coach of the new Toledo professional hockey team will be Nick Vitucci. The team will begin play in October, 2009 at the new Lucas County Downtown Arena. The 40-year-old native of Welland, Ontario has won a record five ECHL championships and has been involved with the ECHL since the league's inception. - New Arena Hockey Team to Be Called the 'Toledo Walleye'
Toledo Arena Sports is pleased to announce that the name of the new professional hockey team in Toledo will be the "Toledo Walleye". The team will begin play in October of 2009 at the brand new Lucas County Downtown Arena, which is currently under construction. The name of the team was officially announced at a press conference today at Fifth Third Field at 11:00 AM.
