TOLEDO, OH – Goaltender Matt Jurusik returns to the Pond for his first full season in Toledo and second overall after agreeing to terms for the 2026-27 ECHL season.
The 29-year-old netminder joined the Walleye last December, going 9-3-4 with a 2.27 GAA and a .918 SV% in 16 appearances during the regular season in his first action on American soil since the 2021-22 season.
Prior to last season, he had spent three seasons playing in the KHL, going 22-42-4 with a 3.03 GAA, a .920 SV% and six shutouts in 80 appearances with Kunlun Red Star and Amur Khabarovsk. Prior heading overseas, he appeared in 22 AHL games during 2021-22 with Texas and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, going 10-6-4 with a 2.95 GAA, a .901 SV% and one shutout. He also split parts of two ECHL seasons between South Carolina and Idaho, and following last season’s return with Toledo, he carries a 17-11-6 record, a 2.31 GAA, a .922 SV% and two shutouts in 36 ECHL career ECHL games into this season.
Prior to turning pro, he split his collegiate career, playing his first two collegiate seasons (2015-17) at Wisconsin (50 GP, 17-23-7, 3.53 GAA, .889 SV%, 1 SO), then playing his final two college campaigns (2018-20) at Michigan Tech (57 GP, 28-21-5, 2.24 GAA, .918 SV%, 4 SO) following a gap year he spent with Sioux City of the USHL, going 21-22-4 with a 2.89 GAA and a .906 SV% in 49 appearances.
