(Toledo, OH) – Defenseman Nolan Zajac has been loaned to the Hershey Bears of the AHL. Toledo is in Wheeling tonight to take on the Nailers.
Zajac currently leads all-ECHL rookie defensemen in scoring with 33 points (8G, 25A) over 39 contests. The native of Winnipeg, Manitoba has been rolling lately picking up at least a point and an assist in eight straight contests featuring a total of 13 points (4G, 9A) and is playing as a plus 10 in that span.
Prior to joining the Walleye, the 24 year old spent the last four seasons with the University of Denver posting 19 goals, 76 assists, and 78 penalty minutes while playing as a plus 33 over 160 contests. The youngest brother of NHL forward Travis Zajac was named to the NCHC All-Academic Team over his last three seasons. This past season, the 5’11”, 180 pound defenseman helped lead the Pioneers to the NCAA Frozen Four, eventually losing to North Dakota.
Hershey plays in Hartford tonight before heading to Bridgeport on Friday and returning home to host Providence on Saturday.
