Five wins run streak to record-tying heights: Toledo capped a perfect week with back to back wins over the Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday and Saturday. Wins over Indy on the road and a 6-3 win over Fort Wayne at home Thursday morning helped the Walleye run its win streak to five straight and they are now unbeaten in regulation over the last ten games. The ten straight matches the longest run in Walleye history set November 14 through December 9, 2015.
Huntington Center Rocking: Two more home games with two more standing room only crowds at the Huntington Center. Toledo leads the ECHL in average attendance at 8,008 which is 107.8% percent of capacity (a sellout is 7,431). The Walleye have had a sellout crowd in all five of the home games played this year.
Tying a record: Toledo's power play unit started Friday’s game at 12.0%, but following a five-for-seven night the unit saw its percentage rise to 19.3%. The five goals tied a record as the Walleye had previously scored five power-play goals just once prior on October 31, 2009, in a 7-5 win at Kalamazoo. The Walleye PP unit went 5-8 in that game.
Nagle matches Lerg: Goaltender Pat Nagle collected three more wins this week to run his season total to 10, which is the most for any goaltender in the ECHL. Nagle has yet to be defeated in regulation (10-0-2) and the 12 game unbeaten streak has tied the longest in Walleye history. Jeff Lerg went twelve straight starts without a regulation loss from October 26 through December 12 in the 2014-15 season.
Four games in five days for the Walleye: Another week, another four in five for the Walleye. The final game of three straight with Cincinnati starts the week on Wednesday night in Cinci. Toledo will set its sights on Fort Wayne for a Turkey Day meeting before hosting the Worcester Railers on Friday night for the only home game of the week. Toledo defeated the Railers 3-2 on Halloween night at Worcester in the only other meeting. The first of seven meeting this year between Toledo and Brampton ends the week as the Walleye head to Canada for the first time this year.
